On the road again... Day 4

On the road again

DAY 4 (yesterday)

1:31pm
We are in Westville, Indiana. We stopped at a gas station diner for lunch called ‘It’s Lou, that’s Who’. It was so good. Guy Fiery should stop there if he hasn’t already. I-80 turned into a toll road and it looks like it’s that way all the way to Cleveland. We have 5 hours left on our drive and we’re all ready to be done in the car. Lennon cried when we put him back in his seat but he’s watching Sleeping Beauty now so he’s happy.

4:00 pm
Amish country. We just saw a bunch of horses pulling a plow in a field. It was really cool! Lennon is asleep again. We’re driving right along the border of Indiana and Michigan. It’s really pretty, tons of forest area all around us with farmland in between.

8:00pm
We are here, and we are pooped. No pics today, all we could focus on was getting here. Road trips are fun but 4 non-stop days is a little long. We are ready to hit the sack. I’ll be posting pics of the apartment soon. The area is really pretty, the grass here is dark green and silky. I may actually walk on this grass without shoes... probably not though ;)

On the road again... Day 3

On the road again

DAY 3

12:15pm

Just left Omaha, that’s where we stopped for lunch today. We’re now in Iowa which means Lennon has been to 16 states, by the time we stop in Cleveland tomorrow he will have been to 19. Not too bad for a 14 month old kid! So far Iowa is so much prettier than Nebraska. They actually have trees here, and hills.

3:03pm
Des Moines is really pretty and green. The freeway is lined with trees, grass, and lilac bushes. We just stopped here for a quick pit stop. We went to the John and Mary Pappajohn sculpture park. It was really cool, Lennon was just happy to get out and run around. We passed a sign for a free driving tour of the bridges of Madison County. I looked it up online and saw how neat it would have been and almost cried that we missed it. If we take this route home we will definitely be doing that tour. Not sure where we’ll stop tonight, we’re hoping to as least make it to the Indiana state line.

9:16pm
We made it to Bettendorf, Iowa which is right on the Mississippi river and almost to Illinois. Today was our longest driving day. Lennon did good, but he was definitely ready to get out of the car once we stopped.  We had dinner, went swimming, and now we’re about ready for bed. Looking forward to tomorrow being the last day on the road.

On the road again... Day 2

On the road again

DAY 2

12:50 pm
We are now driving through Wyoming. Just left Laramie on our way to Cheyenne. We woke up this morning at 4:45 thanks to Lennon. He is still sick so he has a hard time sleeping at night, but being up that early gave us a chance to eat breakfast and go for a walk along a river trail before leaving Steamboat Springs. We loved that town so much! A lot of things were closed though, they are open for the winter and then close for the month of April to get ready for summer. We had a hard time finding a restaurant that was open last night, everything said "opening May 1st".

Things are a little less scenic now that we are out of the mountains but we have a book on tape (Maze Runner) and some puzzle books to keep us entertained. Kyle especially likes when I read my magazines out loud to him ;)

5:12 pm
We were planning on stopping for the night in North Platte, Nebraska but Lennon is still sleeping
so we just kept driving. Not sure how far we'll end up going today. So far the scenery is nothing but
flat farm lands, not too much to see.

7:48 pm (Nebraska time)
We are in Gothenburg Nebraska. We stopped here about an hour ago, went swimming, and now we’re getting ready for bed. With an early start to the morning we are all pretty tired. Lennon was so good in the car again today. I’m crossing my fingers that tomorrow will be the same.

On the road again... Day 1

On the road again

DAY 1

2:00 pm Well here we are again, driving across the country. After a busy week of packing, moving, and finals at school we are finally able to relax. We left this morning about 8:30 and stopped at Kneaders for breakfast before we hit the road.  Lennon has done good today. We haven't even had to put in a movie yet. We played with puppets and read a couple books, but other than that he pretty much slept most of the ride. We stopped at Dinosaur National Monument for lunch and Lennon liked walking along the little trail, he refused to hold my hand, he wanted to do it all by himself. Our next stop is Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

9:12 pm
We made it to Steamboat around 3:30 today! Lennon was so good all day. We stopped at a little park just inside of town where they had a walking tour of a bunch of hot springs. We had a lot of fun with that, Lennon loves to walk as much as he can. After the park we stopped at a really cool library with a big Children's section. They had a huge fish tank, toys, magnetic boards, puppets, all kinds of fun things that Lennon loved. Not sure how far we'll go tomorrow or which route exactly. We are just kind of playing things by ear.

I created a blog!

I decided to create a blog!

So here it is, my blog. That's me, Kristy, and my husband Kyle, and our son Lennon. I decided to do this because we are heading to Cleveland, Ohio for about four months and I think this will give my family a chance to keep up to date on all the fun cute things Lennon does. Poor guy is sick today, we've spent the majority of the day on the couch reading books and watching Mr. Peabody. Hoping for a better day tomorrow.
